Overview
Dollar General is one of the largest dollar store chains in the United States, with over 16,000 locations in 46 states. Dollar General is traded on the New York Stock Exchange, making it an investment grade company. Many investors are drawn to Dollar General as a tenant due to their corporate ownership, consistent lease terms (15 years), and “hands-off” lease structures with no landlord responsibilities. The typical Dollar General prototypes are between 7,000 – 10,000 SF, with the newest prototype being 9,100 SF on approximately an acre of land. While a popular investment, the tertiary locations of many stores deter other investors from considering acquisitions.
