Applebee’s is an American company which develops, franchises, and operates the Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill + Bar restaurant chain. The Applebee’s concept focuses on casual dining, with mainstream American dishes such as salads, chicken, pasta, and burgers. Applebee’s restaurants feature a bar area and serve alcoholic beverages (except where prohibited by law). As of December 31, 2019, there were 1,787 restaurants operating system-wide in the United States and 15 other countries, including 69 that are company owned and 1,718 that are franchised. In 2007, IHOP Corp (now DineEquity) purchased the Applebee’s chain for $2 billion.
